The LAN port represents a new challenge for HiFi power supplies, due to its high frequency nature. To play digital or high resolution music, the network player needs between 200MB and 1GB of data for 5 minutes of DSD music. And the LAN port of the music player operates internally at high frequency (as much as 1.25GHz on the Gigabit Ethernet ports), while managing network data through that port. This frequency at which they work is at least 1000 times higher than what a linear source can support. Forrester is the solution capable of managing the high frequency of network audio devices adequately for 5V devices (such as Silent Angel N8), streamers, Raspberry Pi and any other device, especially those that perform some type of digital processing.
The toroidal design takes up approximately half the interior space, and is half the weight compared to the laminated design of the same grade. The efficiency improvement is evident. The core permeability of the toroidal design is greater than the laminated one, which manages electrical efficiency more efficiently. In addition, the toroidal design saves more energy, potentially accounting for 10% of the consumption of its laminated equivalent.
A distinctive advantage of the Forrester is its completely symmetrical circuitry design. This design virtually eliminates all internal noise. Symmetrical circuitry consolidates the precision of power output, ensuring stable power delivery.
Equivalent to the gate that regulates the flow, the MOSFET (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor) is a fundamental piece of Forrester to control the output voltage. The choice of this technology has been made looking for the best result in acoustic reproduction, since thanks to its less complex design than that of BJT, MOSFET manages higher powers, offering a more stable and precise output voltage.
Forrester has output voltage detection circuitry, and output current protection circuitry, as well as two temperature protection circuits that will interrupt operation. This prevents any damage that may be caused to the device due to unexpected failures.
Forrester has a characteristic symmetrical design of the transformer and circuitry and two pairs of connectors: one USB and one DC. In addition, it has two 60 cm 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC to 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC adapters included to expand its serial compatibility.
