When there is not enough false ceiling depth, the Dali Phantom K-60 LP recessed speaker is the solution.
The goal in creating the K-60 LP is to facilitate installations with a high-quality recessed speaker model with a narrow design that allows maximum installation flexibility. DALI has achieved this, providing them with housing depths of only 36 mm, which is less than any recessed light fixture on the market.
When physical depth needs to be restricted, a new architecture needs to be designed, and that is what we have done with the K-60 LP. A completely new development from DALI engineers inspired by the technology already used in the smaller drivers developed for the award-winning DALI KATCH G2 portable speaker.
The curved outer region and a central domed region provide structural rigidity equivalent to that of a conventional diaphragm, however, it also offers a greatly reduced overall depth.
The overall result of these architectural changes is a 150 mm (6 in) mid/bass driver with a depth that is less than half the conventional measurement used in most in-wall speakers, yet its acoustic performance in terms of Frequency response, distortion, compression is amazing.
Selecting the best aluminum for the diaphragm was necessary to achieve the required hardness and rigidity, considering the low-profile driver architecture, which is why it incorporates seven localized reinforcement ribs to provide greater rigidity.
While the K-60 LP's amazing bass/mid driver is its most notable technical highlight, its smooth 25mm dome tweeter is no less notable. It is derived directly from those used in DALI hi-fi models and offers much higher quality than typically found in similarly installed speakers. Notably, and very unusual for an in-wall speaker, the tweeter is installed with a damped rear enclosure which serves to lower the fundamental resonance of the dome. The lower resonance allows the tweeter to operate lower in the audio band and integrate more effectively with the bass/midrange driver at a relatively low crossover frequency of 2 kHz. The tweeter magnet system, again unusual in in-wall speakers, is a neodymium-iron-boron element designed with a central hole to provide an air passage to join the dome to its rear casing. NeFeB magnets are more expensive than the traditional ceramic alternative, however their low weight and compact size bring significant packaging benefits to a speaker like the K-60 LP. The tweeter dome is surrounded by a short curve waveguide that provides dispersion control and radiation impedance matching.

Normal and High+ high frequency equalizer options; The High+ option is useful for compensating for very off-axis listening and ensures optimal dispersion in any listening situation.
The K-60 LP is equipped with an anti-overload thermal protection system so that if it were subjected to too much volume for a long time, it would stop ringing to protect itself, recovering its operation after a short time and being able to work for many more hours if we reduce the volume slightly. DALi recessed speakers are made to last for many years.
Installation of the K-60 LP is extremely simple. It only requires making a cut in the ceiling or wall, using the supplied template. Plug the cables into their snap connectors and pay attention to the compass-style direction indicators drawn on the K-60 LP's bezel to help you align its sound radiation axis toward the listening point. Once in place, a K-60 LP is secured through four clamps that will be attached to the plasterboard as we screw its four fixing points from the outside. Once installed and tested, you will only have to place the elegant magnetically fixed white grille in place with a black grille option, if purchased separately, with the K-60 LP being fully compatible with the same grille as the Phantom E-60 if you prefer.
Its magnetic front grille in satin white, spray-paintable in any color, allows it to be easily integrated into any decorated environment.
