The DALI OBERON GRAND VOKAL center speaker is a two-way design optimized for large rooms. The pair of 7” woofers made with SMC and a wood fiber cone accompany the ultra-light 29mm soft dome tweeter when filling a large room with sound. It is the perfect pair for OBERON 7 and OBEORN 9, the larger drivers and housing offer powerful, clear and distortion-free dialogue, as well as realistic sound effects and music. As with all DALI speakers, OBERON GRAN VOKAL adheres to the brand's philosophy, especially low loss and temporal coherence, to offer a seamless soundstage and a balanced transition between the front and center channels.
The GRAND VOKAL 7-inch woofers are upgraded versions, based on the same platform as the mid/bass drivers of OBERON 3, OBERON 7 and OBERON 9. Using OBERON 7 as the acoustic reference and using the same type of driver, OBERON GRAND VOKAL integrates without being noticed, offering the same acoustic characteristics as the rest of the channels, as was sought when mixing the songs.
A 7” driver is around 15% larger than the usual 6½” driver found in most center speakers, allowing for higher sound pressure levels from the same voice coil. Using larger, more powerful ferrite magnets, OBERON GRAND VOKAL delivers higher peak pressure levels, and most importantly, the exceptional dynamics needed to effectively reproduce cinematic dialogue and sound effects at any volume.
GRAN VOKAL's large drivers feature the improved low-loss technology found in the rest of the OBERON range, such as the acclaimed SMC introduced for the first time in the top-of-the-range EPICON. The SMC offers very low distortion as well as the smallest details even at low volume levels. This is a critical factor when trying to reproduce all the midrange frequencies, where movie dialogue lives and to which the human ear pays the most attention. The drivers also feature wood and paper fiber cones, as well as a smooth surround designed from the ground up for the OBERON driver, ensuring that cone movements occur easily, with as little energy loss as possible. Coupled with a powerful, lightweight voice coil and an extremely strong enhanced magnetic system, the two woofers achieve a consistent acoustic signature from the bass to the highest peaks.
