It is the simplest centre-channel loudspeaker in the EVO4 range from Wharfedale, defined by its creators as the dawn of a new standard of excellence in affordable hi-fi and representing the logical evolution of the celebrated EVO Series, it uses a versatile 2-way, 3-speaker bass-reflex configuration. The EVO4.CS stands out not only for the refinements incorporated in its cabinet and the materials used in its construction, but, above all, for including an innovative tweeter based on the AMT (Air Motion Transformer) operating principle. As a result of its special design features, the AMT transducer allows a larger volume of air to be displaced than a conventional dome tweeter from an extremely light diaphragm, resulting in a very precise, agile and less distorted reproduction of the high frequencies of the spectrum. CS has also been given a great deal of attention in the design of the EVO4.CS, as evidenced by the use of two 130 mm Kevlar woofers with interwoven fibre cone, equipped with a characteristic projectile-shaped dispersion modifier. This ensures an extremely smooth acoustic cut-off and thus further increases the integration capability with the AMT tweeter and the 50 mm soft dome midrange speaker in order to deliver an accurate and convincing restitution of film dialogue. Another key aspect of the EVO4.CS is the care taken in the design of the crossover filter, the development of which has involved hundreds of hours of listening combined with unique computer-assisted optimisation technology developed specifically for Wharfedale.
