In the EPICON 8, two 8" woofers are complemented by a 6½" midrange driver where the layers of a recording, vocals and instruments are presented delicately separated and defined. The woofers' innovative linear drive magnet system is complemented by our hybrid dome and ribbon tweeter module. All of this translates into bigger sound. In effect, this enclosure has a '3+½-way' construction. Each side of the EPICON 8 is constructed from 6 individual layers of MDF, glued together, and anchored to 63mm multi-layer MDF spine, 10mm thicker than the spine of the EPICON 2 and EPICON 6 to maintain absolute control. The CNC milling process is applied to the spine to make the recess and holes of the bass ports and terminals. With a thickness of 33 mm of the double-layer front baffle ensures that the energy from the drivers is radiated in the form of acoustic energy, and not as vibrations in the cabinet. Internally the EPICON 8 enclosure is divided into two identically sized chambers for the woofers and an extra chamber for the midrange. The woofer chambers allow the enclosure to be adjusted identically and completely independently for each of the two woofers. The midrange chamber allows the driver to reproduce the critical frequencies related to human voices without any interference from the rest of the system. On the back are two bass ports, located as close to the subwoofers as possible. Both ports are positioned in a conical-convex manner at both ends to minimize turbulence in the ports. On the bottom of the box, however, you'll see that the wiring crossover is mounted in its own enclosure, free from the dynamic pressure variation inside the cabinet of bass reflex enclosures.
