Numerous improvements can be found inside and outside the S812, starting with a beautifully newly developed enclosure topped by a subtle bronze trim that stylises its visual appearance. On the other hand, the replacement of the feet with ultra-stable rails slightly advances the main cabinet to the point of giving the sensation of floating in space. Moving inside, there are both qualitative and quantitative improvements, the first of which is a REL Acoustics NextGen5 amplifier that gives the user a total of 800 watts continuous and the ability to reproduce peaks of over 1,000 watts. This power is needed to handle with authority the special filters responsible for adapting the .1/LFE channel, which allow almost doubling the output level below 40 Hz. As far as the High Level and Low Level inputs are concerned, the inclusion of a new filter called PerfectFilter specifically designed for High Fidelity applications where the High Level inputs are used is a highlight. Finally, the use of an improved version of the ultra-lightweight transducer first incorporated in the original S Series, which increases cone stiffness by 60%, resulting in superior response speed, sensitivity and accuracy.
