Rel Acoustics 212 SX

Aesthetically and conceptually based on the celebrated 212/SE, the REL 212/SX is a true reference realisation designed not only to provoke literally visceral music listening sensations, but also to maximise detail resolution and restore midrange warmth. It combines a total of four newly developed 305 mm loudspeakers (two active and two passive) with newly developed 1,000 watts continuous NextGen 5 amplifier electronics, developed by the British firm, and sophisticated management circuitry. For the active loudspeakers, ultra-lightweight carbon sheets hermetically bonded to the rear of each REL-exclusive Continuous CastAlloy cone stiffen and soften the behaviour of the cone, while updated peripheral suspension geometry and superior power handling capabilities increase its already extraordinary travel capability by 12 mm.

Special mention should be made of the impressive "Super Progressive" lower-emission passive bass radiator, which by combining a flat diaphragm with REL's unique "Carbon/Carbon" structure, a steel chassis and a newly developed special internal double suspension allows the maximum sound pressure level and bass extension to be further increased by an additional 30 mm of travel, while preserving the finest spatial details with extreme precision.
