With its unmistakable aesthetics, the most opulent of McIntosh 's tube mono power amplifiers is designed, thanks to its 300 watts of continuous output, to attack with authority even the most demanding of speakers in reference stereo systems.
The now legendary Unity Coupled Circuit output transformer, which dates back to the origins of McIntosh in 1949, contributes to this task in an extremely efficient way, as it guarantees the full delivery of this power regardless of whether the impedance of the associated loudspeaker is 8, 4 or 2 ohms.
In addition, the MC2301 is the first tube power amplifier built by McIntosh to use the brand's unique Quad Balanced circuit architecture, which allows virtually all noise and distortion in the audio signal to be cancelled.
Another exclusive McIntosh technology found in the MC2301 is the fuse-free Sentry Monitor short-circuit protection system, which shuts down the output stage - i.e. the power amplifier itself - before the current exceeds safe operating levels, and then automatically resets itself.
Equipped with a stainless steel chassis and balanced and unbalanced inputs, the MC2301 is completed by two iconic elements on McIntosh: the treated glass front panel and an elegant analogue vumeter with blue background.
