This slim three-way, three-speaker bass-reflex column is the most compact of the floorstanding speakers in a series that adopts the values that inspired its celebrated predecessor - the Olympica - while adding a spectacular amount of state-of-the-art technological developments.
Thus, the panels used in the Olympica Nova II are made of eight layers of bent and pressed wood that provide extreme rigidity to the enclosure, with carefully placed structural ribs used inside as bracing to reduce vibration and handle the full acoustic power generated by the movement of the speakers.
The front panel is made of hand-finished natural wood to enhance the entire enclosure, and real leather cladding is applied around the tweeter and midrange speakers - the 'Voice of Sonus Faber ' - and woofers. In addition, the exterior of the unique Stealth Ultraflex bass-reflex port, characterised by extremely low turbulence, is made from a solid block of extruded aluminium.
In terms of the electro-acoustic technology used, the Olympica Nova II is fitted with a silk dome tweeter with the Italian company's DAD (Damped Apex Dome) technology, accompanied by a midrange speaker and a woofer derived from those used in the Homage Tradition collection, with several significant changes having been made to them. In the case of the woofer, it features a cone that benefits from a sophisticated sandwich structure in which two sheets of cellulose pulp flank a state-of-the-art syntactic foam core.
A frequency divider filter based on Sonus Faber 's unique "Paracross Topology" is used to manage this loudspeaker assembly, substantially reducing the sensitivity to radio frequency interference, improving transient response and reducing background noise. Let us finally point out that the Olympica Nova II rests on an elegant aluminium structure combined with steel decoupling tips.
