Flagship of the new Gravis 'collection' and one of the most refined and musical subwoofers of the moment, the Sonus Faber Gravis VI stands out first and foremost for using an industrial design philosophy based on the use of a body with simple lines enriched by a leather covering.
The top panel is a hand-finished wooden element that visually 'connects' with Sonus Faber 's most exclusive loudspeaker collections, while electro-acoustically it incorporates a pair of powerful 305 mm active transducers designed for large displacements with minimal distortion.
These drivers feature a cone made of an extremely light and rigid trilaminar sandwich structure created by Sonus Faber called "ParaNanoCarbon', which is resistant to bending even under the most demanding working conditions and which, in combination with a double voice coil, delivers extraordinarily generous and accurate bass.
As far as the amplifier electronics are concerned, the Gravis VI incorporates an extraordinarily powerful - 1,800 W - Class AB-configured design developed specifically for it by the Italian brand, whose frequency response curve is additionally linearised by means of a dedicated DSP-based circuitry implemented in the preamplifier stage.
The Gravis VI is completed by a connectivity that includes all the required options, i.e. High Level, Line and LFE, the latter offering the possibility of connection in balanced and unbalanced mode. In addition, the Gravis VI integrates a wireless receiver for use with an optional transmitter to allow full connectivity without the need for long cable runs.
It can also be controlled by a convenient dedicated app that allows the user to select from 4 presets or even modify the crossover frequency and acoustic phase to optimise integration with the main speakers. The said 'app' also allows to act on delay time, parametric filters and limiters to achieve the most accurate calibration possible.
