The MC3500 MKII is a monophonic tube block that meticulously respects the particularities of its predecessor (the legendary MC3500, used to soundtrack the legendary Woodstock festival in 1969 and present on the market from 1968 to 1971), while equipping it with the most brilliant technological developments from McIntosh. With an output power of 350 watts continuous into 8, 4 or 2 ohms, the MC3500 MKII incorporates everything that McIntosh has learned in tube amplifier design since the 1960s, which means that it has been brought up to date in terms of both build quality and components, without forgoing such distinctive elements of the New York brand as the Unity Coupled Circuit output transformer, which the original model was already equipped with. The MC3500 MKII features eight EL509S high-power tubes, a device specifically chosen for its similar qualities and characteristics to those of the 6LQ6s used in the original MC3500. Like its predecessor, the MC3500 MKII includes a fully balanced attack section using three 12AX7 valves and one 12AT7 valve. The first 12AX7 is the differential input amplifier, the second is the separator/driver stage for the voltage amplifier and the third is the voltage amplifier itself, while the 12AT7 is the separator/driver stage for the EL509S output tubes. The electronics of the MC3500 MKII are rounded off by sophisticated electronic protection consisting of two great classics from McIntosh: the Power Guard Screen Grid Sensor (SGS) - the tube amplifier version of the famous Power Guard - and Sentry Monitor. Like all McIntosh products, the MC3500 MKII is entirely hand-built in Binghamton, USA.
