For the first time in the 60-year history of this family Hi-Fi dynasty, sapphire, gold, diamonds and cocobolo wood join forces to create the most sophisticated handcrafted capsule ever built. The final phase of the assembly is carried out by John Grado himself with the purpose of achieving an exceptional reproduction of voices and instruments, with outstanding tonal balance, dynamics, image and realism. Grado's coil-winding techniques, which have been improved over decades, allow all four coils in each cartridge to ring in unison. This achieves an absolute balance between the channels and a precise stereo image. Each Grado capsule coil is wound with solid 24 karat gold wire, the ultimate conductor for music transmission from the vinyl record. The entire internal circuit has been machined or modeled in metal with Swiss precision, following processes comparable to those of watchmaking in the Alpine country. The purpose-designed diamond stylus is mounted on a sapphire cantilever that connects to the stylus to create a unique system with the lowest effective mass movement in any cartridge, while the patented Flux-Bridger design achieves superior balance across the entire spectrum. of frequency, with outstanding resolution and clarity, achieving a more real and complete sound image. All of this is protected under a casing made of cocobolo wood, a fetish of the best luthiers thanks to its magnificent acoustic properties. “Many don't know it, but Grado invented the moving coil stereo phono capsule in the 1950s,” explains the company's owner and CEO, John Grado. “Shortly thereafter, we discovered an inherent design problem that causes emphasis on high frequencies and cannot be corrected by engineering. This encouraged us to design a new series of phono cartridges. The patented design eliminates all known problems with voice coils,” adds John Grado. In 1953, the Grado family began making capsules on their kitchen table. The entire journey of family history leads to the creation of the Lineage range.
