25-mm spherical stylus version of the radio. A perfect tool for the reproduction of the iconic Shellac 78 rpm monophonic recordings (which saw the light of day around 1939) via the SPU concept of Ortofon, the SPU Mono CG 25 Di mkII is an exquisite moving-coil pickup capsule that will completely revitalise some of the oldest known sound recordings.
Combining the SPU philosophy (a product whose raison d'être was the advent of stereo vinyl) with the unique signal generation system developed by Ortofon in which the capsule's two pairs of connectors deliver the same pure monophonic signal, the SPU Mono CG 25 Di mkII succeeds in conveying the hidden nuances in often very degraded recordings.
Equipped with a 25 um radius spherical stylus with Ortofon's unique precision cut, this exquisite pickup capsule also delivers a relatively high voltage (1.5 mV) that facilitates full exploitation of its capabilities by requiring only moderate-gain phono circuits or step-up transformers.
