At first glance, this captivating product may appear to be a simple turntable, but closer inspection reveals that it actually offers much more, combining a vinyl player, a tube preamp and a Class D power amplifier with 50 watts continuous per channel over 8 ohms.
Dubbed an "integrated turntable" by its creators, the McIntosh MTI100 is aimed at those who don't want a large audio system, but still demand top-level sound, and only need a pair of speakers to complete it, all this without forgetting practical analogue, digital and wireless connectivity, the latter via Bluetooth 4.2.
The belt-driven turntable features an opulent 3.18 kilogram machined aluminium platter, an extremely precise synchronous motor and the standard Sumiko Olympia moving magnet capsule. The main preamp section is based on two 12AX7A tubes, while the phono circuitry is mounted in a separate custom-built enclosure to prevent the influence of noise and interference.
The MTI100 is completed by a high dynamic headphone amplifier and a treated glass top panel, on the left side of which are two elegant, genuine McIntosh controls for adjusting the volume level and selecting the input source.
