The Carbon Special Edition is a special edition subwoofer in REL's elite Reference Line, combining state-of-the-art technology with dedicated state-of-the-art components in a medium-sized chassis, thus exhibiting relatively compact dimensions. It features a third-generation BlackWidow woofer with a 305 mm (12") carbon fibre cone and the UK's unique enhanced suspension, designed to deliver front-firing and excursion 50% greater than previous models. This speaker is complemented by a custom-made CSP passive to ensure even greater authority in reproducing the lower octaves of the spectrum. In terms of amplifier electronics, the Carbon Special Edition includes one of the British company's celebrated NextGen switching amplifiers, a fifth-generation model capable of delivering 1,000 watts continuous power. Driving the active driver are the innovative PerfectFilters, designed to take bass reproduction in mid-sized subwoofers to a new level, while introducing subtle improvements at the upper limit of amplifier power for a more transparent soundstage and superior clarity in overall system performance. Like REL's other Reference Line models, the Carbon Special Edition can be part of a vertical configuration with up to three subwoofers.
