The new MI502 stereo power amp is a flexible component and a welcome addition to a custom installed audio or home theatre system. It offers the world-renowned McIntosh sound quality with a power output of 500 watts into 8-ohm speakers or 800 watts into 4-ohm speakers. It uses high-tech closed-loop digital switching amplifiers and rugged power supplies that produce performance levels rarely heard in custom installed audio.
The applications are almost limitless on how to use the versatile MI502 in your home entertainment system. It can be used to power the front left and right speakers of a home theatre system; to drive two in-wall subwoofers; a pair of MI502s could drive the front three channels of your home theatre plus a subwoofer; or to power distributed audio speakers installed in another room of your home.
The MI502 is rack-mountable and has a 2U mounting height, making it easy to install in an equipment rack via the included mounting brackets (the mounting brackets are removable for non-rack installations). As a highly efficient Class D amplifier, it requires no noisy cooling fans to maintain the rated operating temperature, so all you'll hear is an incredible audio sound that will impress you and your guests.
On the front panel are two blue McIntosh watt meters showing the output power of each channel, while multi-coloured LED indicators show the status of each channel. The rear panel includes a pair of balanced and unbalanced inputs for connecting the MI502 to your preamp. A pair of our standard 5-way speaker binding posts are included for connecting your speakers.
The MI502 features many design cues from McIntosh, including a black glass front panel, our coveted blue watt meters, an illuminated McIntosh logo, and a familiar form factor highlighted by a silver border.
