The Phono Box DS3 B is a phono preamplifier that features a fully balanced gain stage (hence the "B" in its name).
The second key feature of the new phono preamplifier from Pro-Ject is a circuitry made exclusively of discrete components, i.e. individual components and therefore not integrated into chips, in order to achieve the most natural and dynamic sound possible.
The third key design element of the Phono Box DS3 B is the RIAA stage, which processes the signal from the passive gain stage and is also 100% discrete.
As a consequence of its internal architecture, the new Pro-Ject includes balanced outputs (via XLR connectors) which are generated by a dedicated stage, allowing it to benefit once again from the symmetrical connection, in this case to the associated line preamplifier or amplifier.
As for the unbalanced outputs (via RCA connectors), they are also handled by their own dedicated stage, which is fed directly by the RIAA equalisation circuitry.
Thanks to this configuration, the user can simultaneously connect two turntables to the Phono Box DS3 B with the relevant gain, load impedance and load capacitance settings memorised.
