Collectors of records released in the prehistory of hi-fi have in the 2M 78 the perfect tool to rediscover their 78 rpm Shellac monophonic recordings thanks to a configuration specifically conceived for this purpose. This configuration is based on the use of an improved signal generation system developed by Ortofon that allows the same output signal to be delivered to either of the two available pairs of connectors.
Together with a custom-made 65 um spherical stylus, this system optimises the reading of 78 RPM records, which require larger styli for perfect playback in any traditional stereo system. Also, and like the other models in the 2M series, the 2M 78 is available in a version for mounting from the lower area and in those arms in which the fixing screws cannot pass through the upper part of the capsule holder.
