Born to replace the renowned MC Windfeld, part of the elite Exclusive Series and a tribute from Ortofon to Per Windfeld, one of its most brilliant engineers, the MC Windfeld Ti is a direct consequence of the application of the revolutionary SLM (Selective Laser Melting) manufacturing technology, first used by the Danish company in 2007 to develop its legendary MC A90 model. As a result, the Windfeld Ti features a titanium main body inspired by design elements of the fabled MC A95, which allows it to offer substantial improvements over its predecessor in parameters such as overall structural stiffness, weight and dynamic performance.
A magnetic motor based on a compact, extremely powerful neodymium magnet also contributes to this, which in turn minimises the size and weight of the signal generation system. Furthermore, the use of windings in the voice coils made of the unique Aucurum material (gold-plated, oxygen-free 6NX copper) from Ortofon reduces the transmission losses of the diamond tip movements (a Replicant 100 exclusive to Ortofon) to virtually zero.
The revamped Windfeld is also home to other significant technical refinements from Ortofon that contribute to its exceptional sonic personality. The first of these is the so-called FSR (Field Stabilizing Element), a small cylinder of conductive material, strategically placed inside the magnetic motor, which aims to maintain the stability of the magnetic field independently of the movement of the capsule, thus improving the separation between channels and minimising dynamic and intermodulation distortion.
Another key feature of the Windfeld Ti is the WRD (Wide Range Damping) system, consisting of a small platinum disc "sandwiched" between two rubber absorber elements with different properties that ensures exceptional groove tracking as a perfect damping over the entire working frequency range.
