A very high performance "solid state" stereo receiver in the classic style incorporating one of McIntosh 's legendary radio tuners with the brand's unique power amplifier circuitry. This circuitry is equipped with the iconic Autoformer technology to ensure that its 200 watts continuous per channel are delivered in full whether the impedance of the associated speakers is 8, 4 or 2 ohms.

Building on McIntosh 's outstanding legacy in radio tuners, with such exceptional models as the well-remembered MR78, the MAC7200's AM/FM section incorporates such useful features as a signal quality monitor that displays the multipath and noise levels of the incoming radio frequency (RF) signal to fine-tune the antenna position for optimised reception.

In terms of analogue connectivity, the MAC7200 includes a total of 8 inputs divided into 1 balanced line, 5 unbalanced line, 1 moving magnet (MM) phono and 1 moving coil (MC) phono, plus 1 set of unbalanced outputs. In terms of digital connectivity, the MAC7200 comes standard with the DA1 module from McIntosh, whose six digital inputs (2 coaxial, 2 optical, 1 USB and 1 MCT) make it easy to connect to any state-of-the-art digital source.

In addition, the DA1's DAC functionality (which can be optionally replaced by the even more advanced DA2 module) supports DSD256 and DXD recordings at 384 kHz sampling rate, thanks to the use of an 8-channel D/A conversion chip with 32-bit technology configured in Quad Balanced mode to dramatically increase dynamic range and minimise distortion.

In addition, McIntosh 's unique MCT input allows for a secure DSD connection to any of the brand's CD/SACD transport mechanics and optimises the sound quality of SACDs. The MAC7200 also features two of McIntosh 's unique Monogrammed Heatsinks to ensure perfect thermal stability of the advanced high-current, high-response rate transistors in its output section, along with a high-current Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD) headphone amplifier, powerful electronic protection and two iconic elements: the treated glass front panel and two stylish blue-backed analogue vumeters.
