They are the successor to the Klipsch RP-8000, increasing the size of the horn for a wider soundstage and greater directivity.
It also features unique linear displacement suspension to minimise distortion for improved, detailed performance. The LTS tweeter is a hallmark of Reference's previous lines.
The vented tweeter housing reduces standing waves that create unwanted harmonics, resulting in greater detail and clarity in high-frequency reproduction.
Cerametallic woofers, a hallmark of the Reference Premiere series, are exceptionally stiff and lightweight for minimal distortion and maximum efficiency. Aluminium shorting rings reduce distortion, as well as a higher power handling and motor structure enhance the transient response with more control with greater speed and precision.
Utilising Tractrix geometry, the Reference Premiere's ports allow for more efficient and faster air transfer from the cabinet, reducing port noise for more piercing low frequencies. Tractrix ports from Klipsch have custom-designed inner vents that help reduce turbulence of the air entering the port. Less turbulent air helps reduce port noise for cleaner, more powerful bass.
Dual input terminals for bi-wiring / bi-amping capabilities. Bi-wiring separates high and low frequency current into separate speaker cables, reducing intermodulation distortion, for clearer mids. Bi-amping allows customisation through external crossovers when using separate amplifiers.
The split cabinet minimises cabinet resonances and vibrations for maximum transparency and clarity.
Upgrading to Dolby Atmos is extremely easy with the simple, hidden connections located on the rear of the speakers. These refined connections reduce the amount of visible wires and keep them in place for better cable management.
Cast aluminium feet provide a more modern look with less resonance than MDF or ABS plastic. It is mechanically designed to minimise the surface area in contact with the floor, decoupling the speaker for faster, tighter bass frequencies and more detail.
The grilles are resilient, flexible and removable and are magnetically coupled.
