A CD/SACD transport mechanism for those who already have a separate digital audio processor (DAC) or D/A conversion electronics included in another component of their Hi-Fi or Home Cinema system.
Compatible with data CDs, SACDs and DVDs, the MCT500 can also play digital files encoded in popular formats such as AAC, AIFF, ALAC, DSD (up to DSD128), FLAC, MP3, WAV (up to 24-bit/192kHz) and WMA recorded on data CDs and DVDs or USB sticks.
The MCT500 incorporates a total of four digital outputs, with the unique MCT output from McIntosh designed to preserve the transmission of DSD data from SACD discs. Another key element of this refined transport mechanics is the technological sophistication of its read block, which uses a high-precision die-cast aluminium platter combined with advanced digital servo control to ensure extremely fast and quiet operation. In addition, the data contained on the disc is read at twice the normal speed in order to improve data tracking and error correction.
The MCT500 comes complete with one of McIntosh 's iconic glass front panels and, as always from the American firm, a construction of the highest standard.
