Interior design with image and sound

Having a home theater is always a joy for children and teenagers. And it is that audiovisual content is always better enjoyed on the big screen. Whether it's movies and series, sports or video games, a dedicated home theater will become your favorite room.

A priority part of the home theater room, and very often forgotten in interior design, is the sound. A home theater audio system usually has 5 separate channels - ie 5 speakers - and usually at least one subwoofer. These must be wired with the electronics, or provided with a wireless connection.

All this sound design is easier to integrate if it is taken into account when making the aesthetic design of the room, together with the inclusion of the screen and electronics. But it is not impossible to install it with the room already decorated, as the last of our installations demonstrates.

Concerto Facilities: Cinema Room in Youth House

Those who are parents know that a youth bedroom is usually not enough to keep the little ones in the house entertained all the time. For this reason, other rooms in the house become youth rooms until, finally, they take over everything.

The alternative is to offer our children a place in the house made for them, where they can enjoy their favorite hobbies and entertain themselves as much as they want. And this has been the approach that we have followed for this installation that we want to share with you.

The room is about 16 m² with 2.4 meter high ceilings. We installed a 108” motorized screen that is semi-hidden in the ceiling. In this way, we have been able to choose the maximum image size for the room. When not in use, it automatically retracts, exposing the flat screen TV and pictures.

As a projector, a 4K wireless Epson is chosen that is hidden in the false ceiling as if it were one more ventilation grille.

This colossal image is accompanied by a Dali 5.1 speaker system. It is made up of two front speakers and one central aerial speaker, recessed surround back boxes and a 12” active subwoofer.

The electronics that coordinate it all is a Marantz AV receiver.

The youthful interior design, in white and blue, already has a soft rug so that children can play on the floor. This element also functions as acoustic conditioning by preventing reflected sound. The curtain that covers the glass door also helps to improve the acoustics of the room.

The price of all these devices (electronics, screen and 5.1 speaker system) has been around 6,000 euros*.

Key elements of the installation of a private cinema

The movie screen, which can be fixed or retractable. The retractable ones are the most used in the domestic environment, and can be embedded in ceilings and walls, or directly hung on the wall.

The projectors can be connected by cable or wirelessly. There are multiple types - rear projection, ultra short throw to place them just below the screen, short throw, etc. -. If you have doubts, consult us so that we can advise you.

The AV receiver is an audiovisual electronics that amplifies and distributes the sound for multi-channel surround systems, making sure that all the speakers sound coordinated with each other and with the image on the screen.

Speakers are, a priori, the part that seems most complicated to integrate into interior design. However, there are many types: the classic boxes to place on a piece of furniture, wireless or recessed speakers for ceilings and walls with grilles that can be painted until they are practically invisible.

The active subwoofer will manage to give the typical drama of Hollywood cinema to series and movies, enhancing the bass. They are active devices, which have their own amplification, and only need to be connected to the power supply and the AV receiver.

Finally, the acoustic conditioning of the room. In this installation we have used elements of the decoration itself, such as the carpet and the curtain, to ensure that the sound was not distorted or echoed.
