With the new TD 403 DD turntable model, Thorens completes the line of plug-and-play direct drive 400 series turntables. Visually a true Thorens , the new TD 403 DD features the same smooth-running direct drive more than proven on the successful TD 402 DD, but is distinguished from its younger brother with a heavier 1.4 kg, 22 mm thick die-cast aluminum platter and the TP 150 audiophile arm also used on the TD 1500 model .

An Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge from the Danish capsule specialist Ortofon with elliptical diamond stylus is also supplied fitted as standard.

The new TP 150 arm is also used on the newly introduced Thorens TD 1500 turntable model and is similar to the TP 124. It has an effective mass of 14 grams, is height and azimuth adjustable and is equipped with a standard SME connector, so that the heads can be easily changed or other capsules mounted.

Antiskating or antiskating is established by a sliding weight at the base of the arm, which is adjusted on a nylon thread guided on a ruby bearing.
