Originally introduced in 1995, the Reference Series from the legendary American firm Audio Research has represented the ultimate expression of the concepts of performance, musicality and dynamics applied to the reproduction of recorded music, with the Reference 6SE line preamplifier being the most recent of this exciting story.
Equipped with a single very high-performance gain stage, the Reference 6SE uses a fully balanced, feedback-free design configured in Class A. In addition to six very high-quality 6H30 tubes in its gain stage, it incorporates a highly regulated power supply which combines a 6H30 and a 6550 valve.
The Reference 6SE replaces the Reference 6 and offers the highest performance imaginable in a single-chassis line preamplifier. Direct beneficiary of the exhaustive development process that allowed us to fine-tune the sophisticated amplifiers of the Reference 160 range and the monumental Reference 750SEL monophonic power amplifier.
The Reference 6SE incorporates a myriad of new components that allow it to exhibit a unique combination of high response speed and extreme resolution on the one hand and a richness of musical textures that is as precise as it is captivating on the other.
