For eight years, the Brinkmann Edison has been one of the favourite phono preamplifiers of absolute sound enthusiasts who demand not only the highest possible performance, but also the ultimate in versatility thanks to absolutely spectacular configuration options. These options have just been enhanced in the MkII version of the Edison, presented at this year's Munich High End show, which is particularly notable for incorporating a completely redesigned version of the circuitry as a result of a meticulous fine-tuning process carried out by Helmut Brinkmann. Thus, in the Edison MkII virtually every capacitor in the RIAA equalisation section has been upgraded to a new type and/or a new value, resulting in a significant improvement in such important parameters as accuracy and linearity. On the other hand, the lessons learned in the development of the aforementioned Nyquist networked music player have enabled the output stage of the original Edison to be substantially improved, achieving what Brinkmann proudly describes as "a closer connection to the music". Consequently, the Edison MkII is more than just an update of its legendary predecessor: the culmination of four decades of Helmut Brinkmann 's dedication to uncompromising audio component design and a definitive product serving the art of analogue music reproduction.
