In recent years, the Austrian firm Pro-Ject Audio Systems has been manufacturing some of the best High End 'microamplifiers' on the world market, such as the MaiA S2 or the Stereo Box S2. It is to expand the expectations of these amplifiers that the creative Central European brand has just developed a custom 'streamer' that complements both their sound quality and aesthetics. Thus, the Stream Box S2, which is the name of this new and practical digital source from Pro-Ject , uses the power of a dedicated “app” to manage a wide repertoire of parameters, including multi-room functionality. It offers support for high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192 kHz, as well as the possibility of connecting several units together to form a multi-room system, in which case the quality drops to that provided by a CD (16-bit/44 kHz), which in a configuration in which a huge amount of data can be managed is an unquestionable achievement for such an affordable product. The number of possible zones is limited to 10 or 6 depending on whether an Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection is used, respectively, in order to ensure error-free transmission taking into account the high bit rates handled.
