Audio-Technica expands its line of direct-drive turntables with the semi-automatic AT-LP8X, which features a new arm-lift design that automatically raises the arm at the end of a record face and stops the motor.
The aluminium J-shaped arm, inspired by the classic A-T models of the 1960s and 1970s, is equipped with a new AT-LT10 head design and an AT-VM95E BK cartridge with 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical stylus, which offers excellent channel separation and maintains low
distortion for exceptional sound quality.
For easy customisation, the stylus can be replaced with any of the five styli in the VM95 line, and the VTA (vertical tracking angle) adjustment of the arm and underbalance allows a wide range of capsules to be used.
The AT-LP8X plays 33-1/3, 45 and 78 rpm records. Its anti-resonant die-cast aluminium platter with 25 mm rubber damping is equipped with a 2.5 mm rubber mat and is driven by a sensor-controlled motor that ensures a precise and continuous platter rotation speed.
The motor and its efficient internal switching power supply are housed in a 16 mm MDF (medium density fibreboard) base and have height-adjustable feet for excellent protection against noise and vibration.
The turntable includes a detachable RCA output cable (dual male RCA to grounded dual male RCA), a 45 rpm adapter and a removable, flip-up dust cover.
The AT-LP8X's arm automatically lifts up at the end of the record face and its motor stops automatically, rare features in a direct-drive turntable. This gives you the freedom to listen quietly without worrying about when the record will end.
The turntable's AT-VM95E cartridge is compatible with any replacement stylus from Audio-Technica's VM95 series, making it easy to try out different stylus profiles, switch to a higher quality stylus for a more refined sound or switch to an AT-VMN95SP stylus to play 78 rpm records.
The turntable's sturdy MDF base, adjustable feet, thick, rubber-damped, anti-resonant cast aluminium platter and 2.5mm rubber mat all work together to dampen unwanted noise and vibration, so you can enjoy your music in fine detail.
