Amplifier with DAC
The DC BLOCK is a very compact and attractive product which, as its name suggests, has been specifically designed to block the DC input from the mains in all kinds of audio electronics. The idea behind this versatile accessory is the established fact that, as a general rule, the AC signal present in the mains is subject to various types of interference and distorting non-linear loads. In particular, asymmetrical loads will cause shunts in the AC signal, resulting in what is known as "DC current in the AC electrical signal". The magnitude of this DC current is small, in the order of 500 mV, but a small amount of DC current is enough to saturate a modern high-flux toroidal transformer, resulting in reduced efficiency and increased mechanical vibration. This is where the DC BLOCK comes in, combining a simple connection with an intelligent design to instantly eliminate the DC current present in the mains signal, to which it adds additional conditioning of the latter and filtering of the RF signals, both processes that contribute to optimising the performance of any audio component.
Features:
- Blocking of DC current present in the mains signal.
- Provides extra conditioning of the mains signal and RF filtering.
- Exceptional price/performance ratio.
- Reduces hum and mechanical vibration of transformers.
- Improves the performance of all types of audio components.
- Compatible with 100-240 V/50-60 Hz mains signals.
- Maximum peak load of 600 VA.
- Compatible with 2x150 W RMS or 1x300 W RMS power amplifiers.
- Dimensions: 113x59x140 mm (W x H x D).
- Weight: 0.7 kg.
Refurbished offer for a single unit, black colour, in perfect condition and with full three-year warranty. Check availability.
CD transport
Positioned between the 6000 and 9000, the 7000 fuses premium features in a price category that follows the mantra of class-leading performance.
Outwardly similar to the sequential series and therefore offering a brand-wide visual aesthetic combination, the audiolab 7000CDT enhances the 6000CDT with a new mechanism, USB hard disk playback and a new full-colour IPS LCD display. More compact than the 9000 series and perfectly matched to the 6000 and 8300 series, it maintains crisp ergonomics, high quality engineering and excellent overall performance.
The 7000CDT uses a high-precision optical system with an electronic data buffer for perfect and accurate CD playback. With technology very similar to the 9000CDT, the 7000CDT uses a digital read-ahead buffer to reduce disc read failures, helping to play scratched and damaged CDs that may be unreadable with conventional mechanisms.
To ensure that a perfect signal reaches the accompanying DAC, the coaxial output of the 7000CDT is fed from a differential line driver. The master clock is controlled by a high-precision crystal oscillator, allowing the digital output from the coaxial and optical jacks to exhibit extremely low levels of jitter (digital distortion).
The 7000CDT's low-friction load tray, rugged aluminium base and chassis work to cope with the vibrations experienced due to the mechanics of a high-speed rotary motor. In addition, the transport is mounted in its own electromagnetically shielded enclosure with a dedicated power supply. All this contributes to exemplary digital signal extraction, while proven resonance reduction further improves performance and after-effect in signal chains and auxiliary Hi-Fi equipment.
In addition to the class-leading CD playback design, the 7000CDT also offers compatible digital music files via a dedicated USB "Type A" connection on the rear of the unit. All significant high-resolution, lossless audio formats are supported, including WAV, AAC and WMA, as well as compressed legacy MP3 formats.
Features:
- CD transport compatible with CD, CD-R and CD-RW formats.
- USB port capable of playing MP3, WMA, AAC and WAV file types.
- Supported USB hard disk formats: FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32.
- Coaxial and optical (toslink) digital audio outputs.
- 12V trigger socket.
- Dimensions: 44.4 x 32.2 x 7.8 cm.
- Weight: 5,5 kilos.
Offer for reconditioned, only for one silver unit, in very good condition and with full three-year warranty. Check availability.
The Lumina I is the most compact passive high-end loudspeaker in its class, a feature that gives it extraordinary placement flexibility and makes it the perfect choice for small spaces.
As a member of the Lumina range, the Lumina I harmoniously combines luxury in materials and construction, minimalism in design and extreme naturalness in sound, complemented by a splendid versatility that allows it to perform at its best in the reproduction of both music and film soundtracks.
From an electro-acoustic point of view, the Lumina I uses a 2-way, 2-speaker bass-reflex configuration, namely one of the iconic hand-coated silk dome tweeters D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) used in the Sonus faber Sonetto range and a newly developed midwoofer equipped with a multi-fibre cone, the whole being managed by a unique topology frequency divider filter executed with audiophile-grade components.
As far as the finish is concerned, to the multilayer real wood front panel (walnut and matt wenge with maple inserts) must be added the cladding of the rest of the panels with the now iconic Sonus faber black leather.
Features:
- High-performance compact monitor with exceptional price/performance ratio.
- 2-way bass-reflex system/2 front-ported speakers.
- 29 mm fabric dome tweeter with Sonus faber's D.A.D. technology.
