It also has digital inputs for sending audio from the TV to the speakers via the amplifier. Four analogue line inputs are included in case you prefer the source device to perform D/A conversion, or to connect a telephone or DAP.

Dynamic passages in music and film soundtracks can cause considerable impedance peaks and dips for brief moments. This can increase the usual load on your amplifier by a factor of 10, and if the amplifier cannot keep up with the demand, sound quality will suffer. The high-current, low-impedance WRAT design of Onkyo includes a powerful EI transformer to deliver accurate sound to the speakers, even at very high loads.
TX-8220 features two pairs of speaker connections, allowing two pairs of speakers to be connected. The receiver is designed to transmit to a single pair of 4-16 O speakers, or to two pairs of 8-16 O speakers, allowing you to enjoy the same audio source in two rooms at the same time, or easily switch between two sets of speakers.
Bass, treble and balance knobs are useful for adjusting the tone characteristics of music to achieve an ideal response for any type of speaker.
