It features Ifi Audio's custom DSD1024 remastering algorithm, driven by a custom-programmed FPGA. Like the technology used in the mastering studios of Sony, DSD Remastering transforms any file by increasing resolution and reducing distortion, delivering a sound that rivals a professionally remastered recording.
K2 technology was born at the legendary Victor Studios and was created to bring life and emotion back to digital audio with a distinctly clinical sound. To achieve this, JVC KENWOOD engineers analysed thousands of original masters at Victor Studios, adjusting the K2 parameters guided purely by their own human experience and intuition. This remarkable technology, previously exclusive to JVC KENWOOD, now resides at the heart of Valkyrie, ready to be experienced at the touch of a button.
Valkyrie incorporates two modes; 'K2' mode and 'K2HD' mode. k2HD' optionally upsamples audio files to 192 kHz/24-bit before applying selected K2 parameters for accurate waveform modelling. It extends the high frequencies to restore natural harmonics, achieving a sound quality close to the original master. For those who prefer restoration without changing the sample rate, the 'K2' mode provides a similar effect while preserving the original resolution of the file.
In addition to these powerful technologies, Valkyrie also offers six digital filters, allowing you to fine-tune details and create a listening experience that is truly your own.
At the heart of the Valkyrie are four Burr-Brown DACs in a hybrid multi-bit configuration, drawing on our long experience with the legendary Philips multi-bit TDA1541A. First introduced in the Pro iDSD, this interleaved design captures the magic and impact of the iconic multi-bit chipset, but with superior low-level linearity for stunning detail.
To power all its advanced features, the Valkyrie requires a serious battery configuration. It features four batteries, which combine for a colossal 20,000 mAh. Not only do the batteries provide the cleanest power source, but they do so with a lifespan of up to 18 hours on a single charge.
