The M3x DAC's main calling card is its meticulously crafted high-end engineering, a product that offers modern digital audio enthusiasts a wealth of musicality.
The new Musical Fidelity features a D/A conversion circuitry complemented by an oversampling scheme based on the effective SRC4392 sample rate converter from US-based Burr-Brown, a chip that resynchronises all PCM signals and "scales" them to 24-bit/192 kHz while minimising distortion.
The D/A converter itself, also from Burr-Brown under the name PCM1795, can handle PCM content up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD (native and via DoP) up to DSD256 (DSD files are not resampled and are played back in their original format).
The M3x DAC, which systematically uses discrete components selected for their sonic qualities and is pending Roon Tested approval, is completed with printed circuit boards (PCB) specially adapted to the circuits they house and a 100% metal mechanical construction combining extruded aluminium on the front panel and thick steel in the chassis, in order to protect the entire assembly against external electromagnetic fields.
