By definition, when a log is tracked with a rotating arm, the cantilever is aligned perfectly perpendicular to the groove in only two instances. The longer the arm, the smaller the offset error between these two instances, resulting in less distortion. This explains why LPs tracked with the long 12.1-inch arm have more balanced and natural sounds (however, no rose is thorn-free: not many turntables can accommodate the 12.1-inch, including the Brinkmann Balance . By the way, the 12.1-inch is not just a 10.5-inch with a longer binding tube. As a longer tube offers less torsional stability and is more prone to resonances, we had to implement some structural changes. We are proud of the fact that you probably won't notice them at first glance, and even more proud of the fact that the 12.1-inch sounds even better than the 10.5-inch.
