Featuring the unmistakable aesthetics of the Reference 160M, with a special highlight being the revolutionary GhostMeters level indicators exclusive to Audio Research, the Reference 160S incorporates a total of eight KT150 power tubes, as well as an automatic bias circuit developed by the legendary Minnesota firm and the ability to operate in Triode and Ultralinear modes.
In addition, a four-layer printed circuit board and a convenient output valve status monitoring scheme are combined with balanced input connectivity via XLR and unbalanced input via RCA connectors. As a result, the Reference 160S exudes the stunning combination of resolution, dynamic impact, musical purity and finesse of the Reference 160M but using a single chassis to make it easily accessible to a wider range of enthusiasts.
