We tend to think that, to set up a good home theater, it is necessary to have a large basement or a large attic but this is not entirely correct. At Concerto we have set up very good home cinema equipment with 7 or 9 channels, including Atmos, in a well-decorated living room without altering the aesthetics at all. It is true that, ideally, it would always be to have a specific room to be able to darken it and distribute the speakers in the optimal positions to create the maximum possible immersive sensation.

Well, we want to present to you in this post, a typical case of a family that had a small unused bedroom and they asked us if it was possible to install a good Home Theater in a small room of no more than 12 m2.

Our answer was Of course! But as long as we can condition it acoustically first.

Said and done, we went to the family house and they showed us the bedroom in question. We took measurements and took good note of the materials that were there, apart from smooth walls, a built-in wardrobe on one side and a door/window leading to the terrace on the other with just a thin curtain, this, together with the limited space available, forced us to be very rigorous with the measurements and to calculate to the millimeter where we would place each device, both audio and video.

The client made it very clear to us that he wanted a equipment of high quality, as long as its performance was not wasted too much due to the small room, so, the first thing we did was introduce a good amount of diffuser/absorber panels in the The only possible places are the front and rear walls and the ceiling, which, together with a good, soft carpet on the floor, should considerably increase the admissible sound pressure level of the room with a good absorption coefficient of the materials used. Of course, it was also essential to be able to darken the room by changing the curtain for a thick black curtain and changing the color of the closet to black to create the most appropriate atmosphere and for the projector to can show off to the fullest.

In the image aspect, the client already knew the prestige of the JVC and its unsurpassed color range as well as very high-level dynamic processing and mapping to obtain the best possible image contrast. The projector chosen was the JVC NZ7 with laser technology and compatible with 4K 120Hz and 8K 60 Hz.

The screen, being a dedicated room, is always fixed. In this case, a Kauber of just over 90" which was the exact measurement that we had calculated in order to be able to install the largest possible size and reserve the space to the left and right for the front speakers while at the same time It would allow the projector's image to be framed well, leaving its optics at just over 3 meters.

As far as electronics are concerned, we went for the best on the market in terms of quality/price ratio, an Anthem MRX-1140 AV receiver and a digital reader. Reavon blu-ray UBR-X110 next to a Sony PS4 game console that the client already had.

As for the speakers, we needed a brand and range that offered different models, both floor-standing for the main ones and wall-mounted and even 8-inch built-in ones that coincide with the same type of tweeter used. So we went to the Dali Opticon MKII in 5.2.2 format, specifically front Opticon 8 MKII, central Opticon Vokal MKII, Surround Opticon LCR MKII and reinforced Phantom E-80 with a pair of Sub E-12F subwoofers

We can assure you that we were the first to be surprised when we began to evaluate the sound, once the necessary adjustments had been made. With the curtains and the furniture changed to black, we had practically complete darkness in the room so that the JVC shone in its maximum splendor, even more so by concentrating its pixels on a screen size that was not too large but , given that the backrests of the seats were no more than 2.5 meters away, the ideal proportions were found to have a feeling of a large screen, as well as having installed one of 135" (+/+/- 3 meters) and sit at 4 meters).

The sound was forceful and precise, nothing got out of control , not even frequencies below 40Hz thanks to the absorption that we added with the acoustic panels, the curtain and the carpet. The feared vibration of the glass doors did not occur, even at full performance of the subwoofers, thanks to the fact that the curtain was treated with acoustic padding and was very soft.

The final result made us feel especially proud, it is not very common to install equipment of such good quality in such small dimensions, but the achievement is to have achieved such a powerful sound< /strong> and controlled together with such a well-defined image.

The moral of this story is that, if you have a bedroom, storage room or any corner of the house with the possibility of enclosure and more than 10 square meters, you can have a large home theater.
