Born out of a collaboration between Dave Reich, chief engineer of Theta Digital and Bruno Putzeys, Hypex fame's class D “Wonderkind”, the Prometheus marks a turning point in amp philosophy. Rather than designing power stages that emphasize the amp / speaker interface and require considerable care when choosing the appropriate transducer, Prometheus is completely independent of load. The frequency response is load invariant. Harmonic distortion, less than 0.01% at 500 watts RMS full band at 4 ohms, it is practically non-existent. The same is true for the IMD. In the tradition of Theta Digital, Reich and his team of engineers investigated virtually every possible power source before settling on a huge linear source. For proof, just look at the huge 1.44 kva toroidal transformer. Such a spectacular power source ensures that Prometheus can deliver full performance for any desired duration. All day and all night? No problem.
