An intermediate model in the new Demand Series from Definitive Technology, the D9 is a stylish 2-way bookshelf monitor with an active / passive operating scheme that highlights the technology - exclusive from Definitive Technology - used in the speakers it incorporates. As far as the tweeter is concerned, a design equipped with a 25mm diameter aluminum dome is used, mounted off-center to achieve a more accurate center stereo image by eliminating unwanted symmetrical diffractions, present in the corners of the panel frontal. To this must be added another technical innovation of great depth: the new “20/20 Wave Alignment Lens”, which aligns and smoothes the high frequencies emitted outside the axis of symmetry of the tweeter to improve dispersion and thus provide an experience of listen rich and balanced throughout the room. Also the “midwoofer” of the D9 - equipped with a polypropylene cone of 139.7 mm in diameter - incorporates several exclusive technologies that make it unique, the most significant being an ingenious and elaborate double peripheral suspension (BDSS or “Balanced Double Surround System ”) that allows for greater cone displacements and higher sound pressure levels while keeping distortion under control.
