The largest of the bookshelf/stand-mount monitors in Sonus Faber 's Sonetto “collection” uses a 2-way, 2-speaker configuration with bass loading via a rectangular bass-reflex port – and therefore with laminar airflow, more easier to control than that generated by a circular section port - located in the lower area of the front panel. As far as the speakers used are concerned, they have been designed specifically for the Sonetto range by Sonus Faber . Specifically, it is a 29 mm diameter silk dome tweeter with DAD (“Damped Apex Dome”) technology and viscoelastic decoupling of the front panel and a 165 mm diameter “midwoofer” with a cone composed of a natural fiber. special and a mixture of air-dried unpressed paper pulp, which provides extreme linearity accompanied by very low dynamic compression. The set, mounted in an enclosure with the iconic Sonus Faber lute shape, is managed by a frequency divider filter of anti-resonant design with optimized amplitude and phase curves to obtain the best possible performance both spatially and temporally. Made with audiophile grade components and tuned by ear, this filter allows the Sonetto II to reproduce frequencies of the order of 42 Hz with hardly any loss and support attack powers of up to 200 watts, which provides it with extreme versatility in both High Fidelity like multichannel audio or Home Cinema.
