D-ILA technology is at the heart of JVC projectors and plays an important role in high-end projection. Device improvements continue to date: the third-generation 0.69-inch native 4K D-ILA device improved liquid crystal alignment control and enhanced image pixel flatness to deliver 1.5 times the native contrast ratio in the NZ900 and 1.25 times in the NZ800, compared to the Gen2 device. In addition, improvements in the device manufacturing process have resulted in greater screen uniformity and improved image quality.

Unparalleled black level and high brightness deliver images full of reality.
The new D-ILA projector features the industry's highest native contrast with the 0.69-inch D-ILA 4K Gen3 device and optical grating engine, but in combination with Dynamic Laser Light Control, which analyses the incoming video signal to automatically control the amount of outgoing laser light, a dynamic contrast level of infinity to 1 can be achieved in total darkness scenes by turning off the light source completely. As a result, images full of reality can be produced that are closer to human perception. In addition, the new algorithm allows the laser to be controlled more precisely to suit the user's preferences.

Another essential aspect of the projectors lies in their light source. The DLA-NZ series adopts JVC's original laser light source, "BLU-Escent Laser", to achieve an exceptional maximum brightness of 3300 lumens in the DLA-NZ900 and 2700 lumens in the DLA-NZ800, both with a longevity of 20,000 hours. Compared to the first generation laser projector, the brightness per effective power of the projectors has improved by 1.9 times, which, as a result, also contributes to energy savings through increased energy efficiency.

BLU-Escent Laser can fine-tune the luminance according to the environment and preferences using the light source control via the slider adjustment. There are a total of 101 (0 - 100) luminance control steps that can be used to make fine adjustments to match the target luminance in the environment and on the screen.

8K60p input for ultra-high resolution 8K content.
4K120p input for gaming and more.
These D-ILA models support a variety of inputs, including 48 Gbps 8K60p. By adopting LSI developed with the latest technology, it is now possible to process four times the amount of information from the input to the D-ILA device instantly and correctly display 8K signals. As a result, users can enjoy stable and high-quality 8K images at all times. In addition, the use of 4K120p input with low latency mode further improves the response to fast player operations, making it effective for displaying high frame rate gaming content on large screens.

JVC's patented 8K/e-shiftX is a combination of "e-shift technology" (a high-resolution display technology that doubles the resolution by shifting a pixel by 0.5 pixels in four directions up, down, left and right) and "0.69-inch native 4K D-ILA devices". Significant advances have been made such as the second generation 8K/e-shiftX, this latest version features JVC's newest 8K upscaling engine that dramatically improves projector sharpness and detail across a wide range of content, including 8K sources at 60Hz resolution of 8192 x 4320 pixels.

The high-end DLA-NZ900 is equipped with an 18-element, 16-group all-glass lens with an all-aluminium lens cylinder. To project high-resolution 8K images to every corner of the screen, the projector incorporates five ED lenses calibrated for R/G/B refractive index differences to reduce chromatic aberration and colour fringing when lens shift is activated to deliver accurate 4K reproduction or 8K resolution projection.

When it comes to reproducing the rich video information of HDR content, including extended brightness range, wide BT.2020 colour gamut and 10-bit gradation, rely on the new D-ILA projectors. Both models support all HDR formats, including HDR10 for Blu-ray and streaming, HLG for broadcast and HDR10+ with dynamic metadata support. The projectors' enhancements for higher brightness and contrast have helped to achieve a wider dynamic range, allowing users to enjoy an immersive experience with lifelike HDR images.

DML (Max Display Mastering Luminance) metadata, which represents the nit level of the professional monitor used to grade the film to the director's standards, is used to set the dynamic range of the title for enhanced HDR tone mapping. In the DLA-NZ900/NZ800 series, DML and MaxCLL values are used for HDR levels.

In HDR10, the basic standard for playing back HDR content, there are only two pieces of data: MaxCLL, which represents the maximum brightness of the content, and MaxFALL, which represents the average maximum brightness. However, with HDR10+, the luminance information for each scene is embedded in the content as metadata, enabling scene-specific tone mapping and faithfully reproducing the HDR image intended by the creator.

The Frame Adapt HDR feature, which uses a proprietary algorithm to instantly analyse the maximum brightness of any HDR10 content per scene or per frame and perform real-time tone mapping to achieve optimal dynamic range for video projection, has evolved to the second generation (Gen2). . The tone mapping algorithm has been completely re-examined to achieve HDR images with higher definition. In addition, the proprietary tone curve selection algorithm has also been enhanced to reproduce HDR images that are brighter, more colourful and have a wider dynamic range.

The new Deep Black feature has been added to Frame Adapt HDR, with a new algorithm to further attenuate tones in dark areas for more realistic darkness. This feature maximises the dynamic range of next-generation 4K D-ILA devices and delivers images with more contrast than ever before. Scenes with light and dark tones, such as nightscapes, can be projected more realistically.

Projector screen brightness varies according to screen size, gain, frequency of use and settings. JVC projectors intelligently adjust the tone mapping so that content can be viewed at the right brightness by automatically analysing the environment in which the projector is used, simply by entering the screen size and obtaining information in Theatre Optimizer in Frame Adapt HDR picture mode. This ensures a reference picture quality with the right brightness, suitable for each customised home theatre environment.

Vivid reproduction of HDR sources containing a wide range of colours.
Even when projecting HDR content on these projectors that uses a wide colour gamut equivalent to BT.709 and DCI-P3, the original cinema filter combined with the BLU-Escent laser work together to reproduce vivid colours, such as the gradations of sky and ocean, the contrast of red roses or a row of cool green trees.

To reproduce SDR content with a narrow dynamic range in more saturated colours, the conventional Natural mode has been upgraded to the new "Vivid" mode. This mode is excellent for projecting SDR animated works that are popular in broadcast content and CG games with greater vividness.

Clear Motion Drive*, which reduces residual images, has improved its algorithm for precision compensation at the periphery of intersecting objects. Together with Motion Enhance technology, these projectors enable much smoother image reproduction.

All JVC NZ projector models are licensed with ISF C3 (Certified Calibration Controls) mode, allowing trained dealers to professionally calibrate them to the desired screen surfaces, lighting environments and video sources and then securely store these precise settings in the projector.

A 6-axis matrix of red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow allows precise adjustment of hue, saturation and intensity. Users can make adjustments appropriate to the content, as the projector allows for precise colour management.

Using an optical sensor and proprietary software*, optimal calibration can be applied in just a few simple steps to match changes in optical characteristics caused by the installation situation of the projector. Automatic calibration optimises all essential elements found in the image, including colour balance, gamma characteristics, colour space and colour tracking. In the past, multiple calibrations were required, but now it is possible to complete the calibration with a single calibration.

*auto calibration function requires an optical sensor and proprietary software, which can be downloaded from the JVC website. Please refer to the JVC website for details.

Functions for making appropriate settings according to the video signal and menu structure.
Today's diversified video signals require settings that match the input signals to view them with proper picture quality. The latest JVC projectors offer various functions and menus for easy and optimised use of the settings. To name a few, there is a menu for Content Type, a function to automatically change the colour profile and a function to set Auto Picture. Select mode. Content Type menu: Use this menu to select the best "picture quality mode" for the input video without worrying about complicated manual gamma and gamma settings. Auto colour profile switching function: use this function to automatically switch to the optimum colour profile based on the colour gamut information of the video signal, eliminating the need for manual switching. Auto picture. Mode Select: Use this function to set the "Picture Mode" corresponding to each input signal (SDR, 3D, HDR10 and HLG).

These projectors are equipped with Installation Mode that allows users to centrally manage installation-related settings to enjoy projected video optimised for each environment. As shown in the graphical interface, eight settings can be adjusted for Lens Control, Pixel Adjustment, Mask, Anamorphic On/Off, Display Settings, Installation Style, Keystone Distortion and Aspect. In addition, ten different mode settings can be stored in memory and named as desired. The installation modes stored in memory for various environments can be recalled immediately.

Screen Fit Mode is one of the nine installation modes described above. When the user selects the setting that best matches the screen being used in the Screen Fit Mode setting, the projector adjusts the image with a natural colour balance to match the screen. The mode is compatible with the latest models offered by the world's leading display manufacturers.

These projectors have a Digital Keystone function. Digital Keystone adjusts the keystone distortion that occurs when the projector is placed in a tilted position. The keystone adjustment is corrected only in the vertical direction.

A 2.35:1 aspect ratio for panoramic cinema films can be enjoyed by combining the projector with a third party anamorphic lens to create dynamic image reproduction as seen in a movie theatre.

The USB backup function can save and write settings in the main unit menu to a third-party USB flash drive all at once. It is important to save settings made by an installer or specialist, or undo unwanted settings made by children or family members.

Rear air intake and front exhaust arrangement provide flexibility for a variety of installations. Screw holes in the legs are compatible with a conventional ceiling mount bracket; anti-slip grooves prevent the projector from slipping when lifted.

In addition to the 3D-compatible HDMI inputs, the projector features a variety of other connections, such as an RJ-45 socket for projector control, firmware updates and setup, and a trigger socket for an anamorphic lens or motorised screen. The projectors comply with the latest HDMI and HDCP standard with both HDMI terminals.
